CanterClix Archive

How to use the CanterClix archive tools

Practical steps for searching retained records, telling individual photos with a retained main image apart from galleries and metadata-only records, and keeping an offline reference list.

Searching the archive

Use one search box for the retained CanterClix archive. Enter a rider, horse, show, filename or record ID, then choose a record type filter if you want narrower results. The only surviving photos filter returns individual photo records where the original main image remains; galleries are a separate kind with original thumbnails.

Results open the retained archive page for that record. Original CanterClix pages, texts, pictures, labels and the closure announcement are retained as source words and styles. New search, saved records and help pages are browsing tools for this archive and are clearly separated from those original pages.

  1. Type a rider, horse, show, filename or ID.
  2. Choose a record type and photo filter if needed.
  3. Select Search to see retained matches.
  4. Open a result to view its archive page.

Surviving photographs, galleries and metadata-only records

This archive is incomplete. Many individual photo records have no retained original main image, so their record page remains with metadata only. Such a record is not shown as a missing photograph, and no thumbnail stands in for a photo that is gone.

Galleries have a separate kind with original thumbnails and do not claim a retained main image. Labels on each result and record page show either Photo present or Metadata only. A metadata-only record still has retained information such as titles, keywords, source page and identifier, useful for reference even without the original image.

  1. Check the Photo present or Metadata only label.
  2. Open galleries via Open gallery to see original thumbnails.
  3. Open the record for retained details.
  4. Treat metadata-only records as references, not photo pages.

Keeping an offline reference list

Save records on this browser to build a personal reference list. Saved records include the record name, archive URL and identifier, and they remain available when you return, as long as local storage is working. Private browsing may erase them when you close it. Only up to 500 records can be saved for safe handling.

Open Saved records to review, remove or clear your list. You can also download a UTF-8 TXT file of your saved record names, archive URLs and identifiers for keeping outside the browser. This list is for reference only; it does not provide image downloads, purchases or any new services from the original business.

  1. Select Save on a record you want to keep.
  2. Open Saved records to review your list.
  3. Remove single records or clear the whole list.
  4. Download a UTF-8 TXT file for offline reference.
